This boldly carved and oversized bird carving has a dynamic and unusual form with unusually long tail feathers, and vibrant original painted decoration in a superb state of preservation. It belongs to a well established tradition of painted bird painted bird carvings made in southern eastern Pennsylvania during the last decades of the nineteenth century, see Richard S. and Rosemarie B.
