QUEEN ANNE PIPE BOX WITH SHELL-CARVED DRAWER

Maple and white pine, mellow old finish; 17 ½ x 5 x 4 ¼ inches.

This exceptional pipe box is distinguished by its  deeply carved concave fan and white pine drawer interior with tapered dovetails, a rare feature of coastal New London County joinery. We acquired it from Peter Tillou’s personal collection in 1997 and sold it to Grant Griswold and reacquired it from his collection.
